Welthungerhilfe was founded in 1962 as the National Committee of the “Freedom
from Hunger Campaign” set up by the United Nations’ Food and Agricultural
Organization (FAO). Today it is one of the largest non-governmental organizations
working in the area of development cooperation and humanitarian aid in Germany.
Non-profit making, non-denominational and politically independent, the organization
is run by a board of honorary members under the patronage of the German President.
Welthungerhilfe is working in 39 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America and
campaigns publically for fairer cooperation with developing countries. Its work is
funded by private donations from the population at large and public grants including
USAID/OFDA, ECHO (FPA P-partner), and works with funding from BMZ, German
Foreign Office, DEVCO/Europe Aid, DFID, KFW among many others.
Welthungerhilfe has been working in Liberia since 2003 focusing on
Agriculture/Sustainable Food and Nutrition Security, Infrastructure and WASH
interventions.
As of 01 April 2019, Welthungerhilfe Liberia implements a KfW co-financed Health
System Strengthening project (–HSS), in the South East part of Liberia with a
duration of 4 years.
Job Purpose:
Performing the task of transporting authorized goods and passengers in a
Welthungerhilfe vehicle, ensuring its technical and safety conditions and respecting
the country’s traffic rules, Welthungerhilfe security rules, in order to provide a safe,
smooth and efficient service.

Main
Responsibilities:
Core Tasks
VEHICLE OPERATION
• Ensuring the security of passengers and goods in the truck, driving carefully,
observing speed limits and traffic rules in the country as well as
Welthungerhilfe security rules, in order to avoid car accidents.
• Ensuring correct loading and unloading of the truck, submitting the
documents to the receiver of the goods, checking the status of delivered
goods, returning the duly completed documents to Logistics and ensuring the
goods have the necessary documents.
• Ensure that all vehicle documents and the driver’s license are valid and in the
vehicle.
• Informing the line manager of any incident involving the transportation of
goods.
• Ensure that all truck daily movement are logged in and logged out in the
logbook and make sure it is completely kept in the vehicle and during
handingover of assigned vehicle to any driver or while going on leave, it is the
duty of the driver to document the handing over process.

• Knowing how to use all types of radio codes, call numbers and radio
alphabets by heart and communicating with base according to
Welthungerhilfe communication policy to inform the driver’s position and
potential implications.
• Knowing and respecting the security rules relating to vehicle. Fully understand
how to operate and safely drive your assigned delivery vehicle
• Drive trucks with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.
• Pull a towed weight exceeding 10,000 lbs.
• Ensure truck or trailer hitch is properly and securely attached to the tractor
unit
• Transport goods, livestock, etc. from the place of origin to assigned
destination
• Pick-up loads and organizes goods in an ordered, logical manner
• Ensure contents are properly secured inside of the truck to prevent breakage
or damage
• Safely and efficiently handle and unload goods at selected destinations
• Assist in mapping delivery routes
• Stay on a predetermined route and ensure timely deliveries
• Communicate with WHH log team as needed
• Confirm contents of each shipment load matches the manifest document
waybill or delivery notes
• Follow delivery schedule and rest at appropriate times
• Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs
• Track and report working hours
• Adhere to company rules and regulations
• Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to the weather/road
conditions
• Comply with WHH safety rules and GOL traffic regulation regulations
• Always make safety a priority
• Ensure the cleaning of all assigned vehicles always.
• Ensure that towel and toilet papers are in your assigned vehicle.
• Write accident report of any incident that may occur.
• Conduct inventory if you should hand over assigned vehicle to another driver.
• Submit and receive vehicle Logbook at the end of every month.
MAINTENANCE and REPAIR
• Checking daily, the technical conditions of the assigned truck (state of the
tyres oil, fuel, brakes, radio equipment, spare parts, etc.), performing weekly
check according to the Welthungerhilfe Logbook, refilling it when necessary,
and keeping it clean to ensure it can be driven in perfect condition. Carrying
out a hand over if another driver uses the vehicle.
• Perform inspections of your truck prior to and after each trip
• Check weather conditions and road reports before departure
• Always ensure your vehicle is kept clean
• Maintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, change oil, tire pressure,

repairs, etc.)
• Notify Senior Logistics Officer of any major maintenance or delivery issues
encountered.
• Fill in job card/VSR/SR to state the problem on your assigned vehicle and
request the necessary parts in consultation with the Head Driver and
Mechanic.
• Monitor the servicing of your assigned vehicle to ensure that all areas
mentioned in the Job card/VSR are resolve satisfactorily.
EQUIPMENT & FUEL
• Ensure that any fuel intake is clearly recorded, the fuel receipt is immediately
given to the fleet officer for proper filing.
• Track all movement, fuel and spare parts received for assigned vehicle.

required to conduct her/himself in a respectful and professional manner in

Experience: A minimum of 3- 5 years of experience in Truck/Trailer Driving and preferable working
with INGO/NGO or Development Organizations.
Location: Based in Zwedru with regular travel to other field locations in South East of Liberia.
Duration 1 year with possible extension
Education: High School Diploma /formal qualification; driving School, including, or supplemented by
course work in automotive mechanics.
Languages: Excellent command of spoken and written English
Computer skills: Good working knowledge of modern communication systems

Class A Truck Driver Requirements and Qualifications
• High school diploma and Technical heavy-duty driving training or it equivalent
preferred

• Valid Class D driver’s license required
• 5+ years proven experience with truck and tractor-trailer driving preferred
• Clean driving record with no moving violations
• Must pass a background check and drug test
• Skilled at driving large vehicles
• Comfortable maneuvering and parking a Truck and tractor-trailer
• Physically and mentally fit
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. at a time
• Able to operate an electric lift, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.
• Proficient using GPS and other routing systems
• An innate sense of direction
• Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful
• High level of composure and good stress management
