VACANCY FOR THE POSITION OF WOMEN’S CLUB PROJECT LEAD

After a break due to COVID, the Mineke Foundation is resuming its Women’s Club program. Our Women’s Club focuses on the economic empowerment of women from Dabwe Town (Gardnersville) and surrounding communities. The Women’s Club was established in 2016 and has mainly focused on offering monthly educational workshops and microloans.

We are looking for a Project Lead to start up and oversee the program. The Project Lead will report directly to the Team Coordinator of the Mineke Foundation.

Our Women’s Club program consists of two main elements:

  1. Monthly educational workshops. Topics include women’s rights, health, SGBV, child raising, and basic entrepreneurship/business training. We usually invite expert guests to share information with our Club members.
  2. Business training & coaching, complemented by microloans. We envision 4-6 in-depth workshops per year, for women who have already started a business. A separate business trainer/coach will be responsible for training and also provide business coaching at the women’s places of business. We provide microloans to eligible women. The Project Lead will be expected to set up and supervise the business training & coaching element depending on when funding becomes available.

The program we are starting in 2023 came into being after intensive talks with our existing Women’s Club leadership, women leaders in the community, and representatives of various women’s groups.

Note: We are still awaiting funding for the Business training & coaching element. This means that the Project Lead will start with a lower compensation and move on to receive a higher compensation depending on funding availability and performance.

Key tasks:

  1. Overall responsibility for the Women’s program
  • Initiate the program based on the proposal as approved by both the Women’s Club and funders
  • Coordinate all activities/workshops
  • Liaise with government and (potential) partners to increase both impact and awareness of the program.
  • Liaise and work with the Women’s Club leadership to expand the Club and further develop the program
  • Work with our Administrative & Finance Officer to prepare and manage Club budgets
  • Work with our Administrative & Finance Officer to support decision-making regarding microloans
  • Supervise the Business trainer/coach and ensure this program element is carried out as intended
  • Supervise the work of any potential volunteers
  • Work with other Mineke Foundation team members to generate maximum synergy across all our projects
  1. Reporting & communication
  • Ensure good records are kept of Club members and activities
  • Submit monthly project reports to the Team Coordinator, as well as reports for funders and donors. Candidate must have good computer skills, particularly Microsoft Word and email
  • Ensure timely submission of relevant information to update partners, friends, and supporters;
  • Participate in online calls with the Board Chair and/or MF international volunteers as needed to discuss program progress, challenges, and opportunities;
  • Ensure our social media volunteer is supplied with relevant information about activities;
  • Work closely with all other team members to ensure the success of the Mineke Foundation.
