Program/Department Summary Mercy Corps started operations in Liberia in 2002 in response to the humanitarian crisis brought on by the two Liberian civil wars which took place from 1989-1997and 1999-2003. Since then, Mercy Corps’ interventions have evolved based on the context and needs of Liberian people. Based on the changing needs, Mercy Corps Liberia has implemented programs in renewable energy, food security, agricultural livelihoods, financial inclusion, nutrition, water and sanitation, infrastructure, and in youth economic empowerment.

General Position Summary Reporting to the Youth Opportunity Center Coordinator, the role holder will be tasked with implementing services and activities offered by the AFD-funded Liberia Employment and Entrepreneurship Program (LEEP) (2019-2023) which promotes employment, entrepreneurship and life skills outcomes among youth. S/he will engage directly with participants at Youth Opportunity Centers and TVETs and offsite communities providing training, coaching and mentoring and business development support. S/he will be expected to contribute to the development of program revision and strategy, and will participate in assessment, monitoring, evaluation, and other administrative tasks.
Essential Job Responsibilities TRAINING ACTIVITIES  Conduct training in business skills, career planning, work-readiness, effective job applications, life skills, and any other new curriculum developed by the program  Oversee attendance and adequate filing of program related documentation  Support curriculum development through actively participating in reviews and feedback after testing document and lessons learned

 Conduct business review sessions and business pre-disbursement assessments  Facilitate Training of trainers for partner organizations  Create awareness and communicate information about the program at the youth center, community TVETs and other organizations  Conduct community sensitization and mobilization, liaising with community structures and local authorities and train young women and men using Life Skills curriculum.  Provide support to Peer Educators, including in-service training, refresher training and coaching.  Coordinate with other organization implementing life skills training to ensure cross learning.  Prepare monthly, quarterly reports and compile success stories from the field.  Any other duties as assigned.

COACHING AND MENTORING  Provide one-on-one coaching and mentoring with youth on CV development, career guidance, and business plans reviews  Support youth entrepreneurs to refine and enhance business plans  Support groups of entrepreneurs to establish youth entrepreneur networks

REPRESENTATION  Represent Mercy Corps in collaborations with various businesses, NGOs, or training partners  Support outreach to businesses for Apprenticeship, Youth engagement at community level or start-up grant activities

ADMINISTRATION AND MONITORING  Support timetabling and schedules of trainings and program activities  Work with Mercy Corps logistics to ensure efficient delivery of services.  Conduct monitoring of program and activity outcomes, and feedback findings to program managers  Conduct surveys as required  Organize and participate in feedback sessions to review quality and impact of service delivery  Perform other tasks requested by the Center Coordinator and Team Leader

ACCOUNTABILITY: Reports Directly to the Youth Opportunity Center Coordinator
WORKS DIRECTLY WITH: Program teams, finance and operational staff
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

 Minimum of a university degree in Management, Business Administration, Social Work, Economics, Social Science or related field  2-3 years of work experience in training, preferable business development and life skills  2-3 years of youth and or livelihoods programming in an NGO, including at a management level experience  Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office programs  Demonstrated leadership and experience being proactive and taking initiative in a work setting  Excellent spoken and written English.
