Expression of Interest

Overview

ActionAid Liberia is looking for youth-led organizations, networks, alliances and social movements from across Montserrado, Bong, Grand Gedeh and Gbarpolu counties to work with. This is an EOI form for any youth-led movements, networks, alliances or organizations that are focused on the following: Climate Justice, Economic Justice, Electoral Accountability, Digital Campaigning, etc. and are interested in working with us.

About ActionAid Liberia

ActionAid Liberia (AAL) is a social justice organization, operating in Liberia since 1997. ActionAid Liberia represents a unique partnership of people, organizations and social movements that is committed to ending poverty. We focus on strengthening the capabilities of people to own and lead their own development. ActionAid works extensively with diverse groups of youth, women, and civil society organizations through rights awareness, capacity building, policy advocacy, and solidarity actions to support women, young people, sexual minorities and marginalized communities to assert their rights and aspirations for better quality of life. In all of our interventions, AAL highlights the rights, needs and participation of women, young people, and marginalized groups as central to national development and ultimately to ending poverty, built upon fundamental principles of inclusion, non-discrimination and gender equality.

Partnering Young People

AAL’s existing programming and partnership with young people has highlighted the huge potential for youth organizing and existing creativity and young led innovations. However, the majority of the young people’s organizations and movements have limited resources to sustain organizing and limited analysis to undertake an intersectional approach to economic and climate justice activism, especially recognizing the inter linkages. AAL aims to ensure that young people, their movements and alliances are able to influence and effectively engage duty bearers (state and non-state) on critical youth demands on economic justice and climate justice. This includes ensuring critically informed and meaningful youth leadership and voices at local, national and regional levels.

Aims/Objectives

  • To work with, collaborate/partner with ActionAid Liberia to deliver our Country Strategy Paper II, Action for Equality and Justice in Liberia 2023 and ActionAid Action for Global Justice 2028.
  • To support ongoing actions by young people and their movements/ alliances to engage in local and national electoral processes on youth demands for economic and climate justice issues
  • Support and promote local and regional youth organizing around climate justice, economic justice and youth led emergency and humanitarian interventions in Liberia
  • To provide information, skills and tools to enhance youth led innovations on green entrepreneurship and agro-ecological practices for climate resilient agriculture.
  • To build strong relationships with youth collectives and gain their trust in technical support and amplifying their struggles for climate justice, economic justice and youth led emergency and humanitarian interventions
  • To contribute to youth struggles through providing them with technical support, resources to respond to remarkable struggles on environmental and climate justice.
