About ActionAid Liberia
ActionAid Liberia (AAL) is a social justice organization, operating in Liberia since 1997. ActionAid Liberia represents a unique partnership of people, organizations and social movements that is committed to ending poverty. We focus on strengthening the capabilities of people to own and lead their own development. ActionAid works extensively with diverse groups of youth, women, and civil society organizations through rights awareness, capacity building, policy advocacy, and solidarity actions to support women, young people, sexual minorities and marginalized communities to assert their rights and aspirations for better quality of life. In all of our interventions, AAL highlights the rights, needs and participation of women, young people, and marginalized groups as central to national development and ultimately to ending poverty, built upon fundamental principles of inclusion, non-discrimination and gender equality.
Partnering Young People
AAL’s existing programming and partnership with young people has highlighted the huge potential for youth organizing and existing creativity and young led innovations. However, the majority of the young people’s organizations and movements have limited resources to sustain organizing and limited analysis to undertake an intersectional approach to economic and climate justice activism, especially recognizing the inter linkages. AAL aims to ensure that young people, their movements and alliances are able to influence and effectively engage duty bearers (state and non-state) on critical youth demands on economic justice and climate justice. This includes ensuring critically informed and meaningful youth leadership and voices at local, national and regional levels.
