Serving Humanity for Empowerment and Development (SHED), formerly Finn Church Aid (FCA) is seeking qualified Liberians to occupy the vacant positions in her upcoming food security project

“Strengthening Food Security and Local Egg Production in Rural Montserrado and Bong Counties”, conforming to the job descriptions below of the various positions. The project is geared toward providing

improved economic and nutritional livelihoods through localized, commercial egg and vegetable production for women, adolescents and the elderly in rural communities in Montserrado and Bong Counties.

The five requested vacancies are full time positions that will provide relevant support to the implementation of the project, ensuring that the project meet its objectives.

SHED, formerly Finn Church Aid is a Liberian organization established as a national office following FCA’s ten (10) years of work in Liberia. We are a right based organization working in four thematic areas: right livelihoods, right peace, right quality education, and Watsan. Our head office is located

Johnson Compound, adjacent Musu Spot, Congo Town. SHED’s action is guided by international human rights standards and principles. As a right based actor, SHED facilitates dialogues and peace building between the right-holders and duty bearers to address root causes of conflict.

Duty Station: Monrovia, Montserrado County
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Drivers will be responsible for the safe transport of SHED teams as well as of materials needed for
project activities. The drivers will be responsible for the maintenance of vehicles, ensuring regular checks
are carried out and vehicles are in perfect running condition. S/he will adhere to all road and vehicle
safety procedures, including cleaning of the vehicles. The Drivers must have extensive experience with
4W-driving on dirt roads and under difficult field conditions, where most trips will be done.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 Operate project vehicles in a safe and courteous manner and strictly obeys traffic laws at all times;
 Transport staff, volunteers, and official visitors to authorized destinations, ensuring that all passengers
wear seatbelts;
 Observe good safety and security practices with passengers; i.e. ensure that all passengers delivered at
night are indoors before departing;
 Maintain accurate mileage logs for each trip taken;
 Do safety checks and maintain vehicles in safe and clean operating condition, including washing of
vehicles;
 Fuel vehicles, check oil, transmission fluid and coolant levels, and check air pressure in tires;
 Perform periodic maintenance on vehicles, such as changing batteries and motor oil at appropriate
time, as well as refueling the car(s);
 Report all vehicle safety problems and accidents promptly;
 Perform other duties assigned.
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE/ CREDENTIALS:
 High school diploma;
 Possess a valid Liberian driver’s license and adhere to driving laws;
 A recent eye test certificate (not older than 1 year);
 Appreciable level in both spoken and written English;

 Ability to drive under difficult situations, especially during the rainy season including the use of 4W-
driving;

 Demonstrate accuracy in filling out paperwork;
 Ability to meet and interact with public and employees with tact, courtesy and discretion;
 Willingness to work in emergency situations and during odd hours, weekends and holidays when
required;
 Knowledge of general vehicle maintenance and ability to plan vehicle maintenance for such
conditions;
