Activity Overview:
Liberia Foundational Skills Activity (LFSA) is a USAID-funded five-year project designed purposefully to increase the percentage of Liberian children accessing primary school and meeting the government of Liberia’s learning standards especially in foundational English literacy. The LFSA will improve education access and learning by increasing on-time enrolment, enhancing age-appropriate placement in classrooms, providing contextually appropriate teaching and learning materials, and improving instructional delivery and teacher wellbeing. LFSA will equip key education ecosystem actors with improved capacity, opportunity, and motivation to achieve results.
Led by Chemonics International in Liberia, LFSA is a five-year project implemented by a consortium of Liberian and international partners, including the Diversified Educators Empowerment Project (DEEP), Kid’s Educational Engagement Project (KEEP), WE- CARE, Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Liberia, Foundation for Research, Education, and Empowerment (FREE) Liberia, Mathematica, and One World Network of Schools (OWNOS). The project will be implemented in six counties: Montserrado, Bong, Margibi, Grand Bassa, Nimba, and Lofa.
Position Summary:
Chemonics International – LFSA is seeking Nine Drivers to support the implementation of project activities across multiple counties. The Drivers will ensure safe and efficient transportation of staff, materials, and equipment while maintaining the project vehicles in excellent working condition.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The Drivers are responsible for the following:
•Drive assigned project vehicle daily, as assigned and/or preapproved by supervisor; including on schedule field trips, project-related trips within post and specify other cities, and other driving assignments as required
•Ensure cleanliness of assigned vehicle
•Check the assigned vehicle weekly to ensure that it is operational and safe to drive. One a weekly basis, check the oil, radiator, fan belt, brake fluid, wipers, tires, lights, and signals.
•Initiate and supervise any repairs required on assigned vehicles with supervisor’s approval.
•Initiate and supervise routine periodic maintenance of assigned project vehicles, including oil and filter changes, tune-ups, and professional cleaning by high-pressure hose based on the manufacturer’s instructions on optimum maintenance requirements.
•Fulfill project reporting requirements and maintain records; including vehicle logs, vehicle routing, and vehicle condition.
•Ensure passenger safety by obeying traffic laws, driving carefully, and ensuring each person in the vehicle wears a seatbelt
•Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications:
•Completion of primary school required; English literacy and numeracy required
•Minimum of two (2) years of experience; Experience working for a U.S. company or NGO in Liberia highly preferred
•Valid Liberian driver’s license and good driving record is required
•Understanding of auto mechanics required, Certification in mechanics or automobile maintenance beneficial
•Must be in good physical health
•Availability for overtime work and field travel is required
•Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
•Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
•Fluency in English required
•Ability to speak and write fluently in English.
Locations of Assignment:
The assignment locations are Lofa, Nimba, Montserrado, Grand Bassa, Margibi, and Bong Counties.
Supervision:
•The Driver will report to the Procurement and Logistics Officer in Bong, Nimba, Lofa, Grand Bassa, and Margibi Counties.
•The Driver will report to the Operations and Logistics Specialist in Montserrado County.
