SEARCH FOR A FINANCE INTERN:
Terms of Reference
Save the Children saves children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfill their potentials.
Save the Children started work in Liberia in 1991 with an emergency program focusing on the
immediate needs of children affected by the conflict. Save the Children currently operates in
three counties across Liberia and works in: education, health and child protection, child rights
governance and response to humanitarian emergencies and long term development.

We are searching for a Finance Intern, as per below ToRs :
The internship is aimed at assisting the CO Finance Function by covering some of the role of
the Finance Assistant and involving in the closing activities of year 2020.
1. Objectives of the Internship
(A) Make payments and receive funds in accordance with finance procedures:
 Collect and examine supporting documents.
 Ensure that documents and signatures are valid.
 Prepare payment vouchers and receipt voucher.
 Maintain float, loan and salary advance registers.
 Review floats clearance from the Finance Manager and ensures that receipts and other
supporting documents are appropriate.
 Prepare monthly payslips upon reception of a duly authorised payroll.
 Record all transaction on manual/computer systems as appropriate.
(B) Manage the petty cash:
 Monitor cash flow and request top-ups.
 Ensure that supporting documents/signatures are valid.
 Prepare petty cash vouchers.
 Be responsible for petty cash held in the office (cash safety and security).
 Prepare Petty Cash Form, and request additional cash as necessary.
 Carry out cash count every day, and a weekly and monthly cash count supervised by the
Finance Manager.
(C) Book keeping:
 Record all transactions on a daily basis; update computerised cashbooks and other
related records.
 Ensure that the cashbook is reconciled on a daily basis and signed off by the Finance
Director on a weekly basis.
 File all financial documents regularly (as soon as they are completed).
(D) Provide support to the office in all other financial matters including 2020 year-end
activities
(E) Any other duties and tasks commensurate with the responsibilities and level of the
post.
2. Profile of the Intern
 Degree in Accounting or Finance with CGPA of 3.0 and above
 No prior work experience is required for this position.
 Excellent English both oral and written.
 Good communication skills, both oral and written.
 Working knowledge of Microsoft Office package, specifically Excel and Word.
 Methodical and with an attention to detail.
 Builds and maintains effective relationships, with their team members, colleagues,
members and external partners and supporters.

• Ability to process large volumes of data.
• Approachable, good listener, easy to talk to
• Willingness to abide by SCI Child Protection Policy and Code of Conduct.
• Commitment and role modeling Save the Children values.
3. Duration of the Assignment
The duration of the work is for 2 months (1 December 2020 to January 31, 2021) with possibility
of extension upon satisfactory performance
4. Reporting Lines during the Assignment
The Intern will be reporting to the Finance Manager
