ABOUT US

Action Against Hunger is an international network (Paris, New York, London, Toronto, Madrid and New Delhi) committed to ending world hunger.

Action Against Hunger (AAH) has been working in Liberia since 1990 with the purpose of responding to the needs of the most vulnerable people, at first during the emergencies and then in a more development setting, until the 2014 Ebola outbreak and the emergency it generated in the country. AAH interventions in Liberia aim at improving the nutrition security of the population, with particular focus on children under-five and pregnant and lactating women. AAH aims at doing so by implementing multi-sectorial programs, which encompass direct nutrition intervention and prevention activities to address the underlining causes of undernutrition, i.e. poor health, food insecurity, poor care practices, and poor access to water and sanitation. AAH also has an integrated advocacy strategy in the mission that cuts across all the sectors.

Action Against Hunger is recruiting for a Head of Department – Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning to develop and lead MEAL Department as well as effective planning and implementation of MEAL system

The position is based in Monrovia, Liberia but covers the programs of both Sierra Leone and Liberia

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

– Development of MEAL Strategy, context appropriate Monitoring and Evaluation System for projects and support streamline the use AAH M&E guideline and tools within AAH projects.

– Develop a dynamic program of information management systems including databases and tools/M&E Forms analysis based AAH experience in the field and management information.

– Effectively lead the required needs assessment as identified by the HOD and the Country Director

– Effectively lead the creation of a learning culture

– M&E Technical Support for Programs team and operations:

– Perform any other duty as assigned by CD/CR

– Any other duties as need arises and as assigned by the line manager

 

QUALIFICATIONS

– Bachelor Degree in Social Science, Management or relevant Sectors (Nut, WASH, FSL)

– At least 5 years of professional experience in project management and/or monitoring and evaluation with high profile aid organizations.

– Experienced in working collaboratively to design and implement performance monitoring plans, standardized M&E tools and reporting systems for multi-million projects; demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating projects’ interventions

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

– Well-versed in developing and managing the implementation of information dissemination strategies; demonstrated experience in building and leading diverse and effective teams.

– Willingness to travel to project sites and support field bases when required

– Strong analytical skills

– Good quantitative analysis skills (experience with statistical software is an asset, especially SSPS, EPI Info, ENA for SMART, and/or Stata)

– Excellent communication, writing and analytical skills

– Diplomacy and good interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure and not lose sight of strategic priorities.

– English fluency

Remuneration package

o Starting date: As soon as possible

o Duration of contract: 10 months

o Monthly basic salary: between 1900 USD and 2027USD based on profile

o Monthly transport allowance:75 USD

o Monthly education allowance: 90 USD

o Medical insurance
