Teach For Liberia is searching for a dynamic Head of Training to work with teachers at our schools. The Head of Teacher Training (HoT) Trainer’s tasks comprise of monitoring teacher performance, observing classes, making assessments, and scheduling workshops, as well as conducting one-on-one training.
The ability to interact with teachers from a variety of diverse backgrounds and deliver supportive feedback to them are required.
Great analytical and observational skills are a must for a Head of Training to adequately address the needs of the teachers. Exceptional candidates are those who demonstrate diplomatic and excellent interpersonal skills, and are able to rapidly identify problems and provide solutions.
The Head of Training will report directly to the Program Manager.
● Organizing workshops and training sessions.
● Observing lessons and identifying teachers’ strengths and weaknesses.
● Providing feedback, advice, and individual training sessions for teacher.
● Collaborating with teachers and other staff to develop improved curricula, lesson plans, assessments, and classroom management techniques.
● Setting timely goals for teachers as well as students, and providing advice and guidance to ensure that these goals are met.
● Returning to classrooms to reassess progress when teachers have completed their training.
● Supervising classroom activities, taking notes, and writing up reports to share with school administrators and relevant stakeholders.
● Developing new strategies and plans for an improved learning experience.
● Keeping abreast of developments in teaching as well as your relevant subject area.
● Building teacher networks and encouraging teachers to share their resources and knowledge.
● Flexibility in using different modes of transportation to reach all of TFL’s schools.
● Communicating and collaborating with local and international partners.
● Master’s degree in Education.
● Teaching experience of at least 4 years.
● Experience teaching adults might be advantageous.
● Robust planning and organizational skills.
● Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities.
● Patience and resilience.
● A high degree of diplomacy.
● Great conflict resolution skills.
