LOCATION:Monrovia, Liberia, with frequent travel in rural areas where VOSIEDA has her activities | JOB TYPE:Full Time (Initial six months, renewal based on performance) |
ROLE PURPOSE: IT Officer is responsible for managing the IT infrastructures at VOSIEDA offices, including websites, various platforms, and systems (desktops, printers, laptops, and phones), end-user support, and technical assistance local partners. The IT Officer must also have experience in videography. The nature of the work requires an individual who is service-oriented, organized, and can interact with diverse end-users and technical staff, prioritize tasks, and resolve technical issues. |

ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND: Founded in 2000, Volunteers for Sustainable Development in Africa (VOSIEDA) is a Liberian nonprofit and a network of development professionals working to promote prosperity, reduce extreme poverty, and strengthen peace and stability in Liberia and West Africa’s Mano River Union Basin region. VOSIEDA’s work focuses on saving the planet and fighting extreme poverty among women, youth, children, and other excluded groups. We advance community solutions to address development challenges and empower local people to care for nature that sustains all lives. VOSIEDA works across five signature programs to empower and support local communities to promote sustainable development to end extreme poverty, its root causes, and consequences in Liberia and West Africa’s Mano River Basin region, including 1). Climate Change & Environmental Sustainability, 2) Food Security & Livelihoods Enhancement, 3) Women’s Empowerment & Gender Equality, 4) Governance & Social Development, 5) Media & Civic Society Strengthening. |
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: IT Systems Management - Ensure implementation of ICT strategies and new technologies.
- Responsible for compliance with and maintenance of VOSIEDA ICT standards, policies, and procedures.
- Actively participate in working groups for information and knowledge sharing
- Collaborate with the Operation Department to ensuring value for money IT-related purchases.
IT Support - Provide support and technical assistance to resolve ICT issues.
- Provide End-User support for all Applications (Document backup, Micro-Team, Zoom, QuickBooks, etc.)
- Ensure ICT services are accessible and equipped with current hardware and software either through research or engagement with service providers.
- Work with relevant teams (Operations, Finance, Programs) in preparing IT assets disposal when appropriate and ensure hardware is stripped and data secured before disposal.
- Ensure ICT inventory for the organization is up to date and consolidated.
- Periodically assess the hardware and software infrastructure needs of VOSIEDA and submit reports to the Operations Manager to ensure the effective acquisition of appropriate hardware and software as per VOSIEDA Information Technology Policy.
- Participate in the implementation and maintenance of a disaster recovery plan for VOSIEDA hardware and software infrastructure.
IT Network Operations - Ensure optimal functioning of Internet links in all offices as applicable
- Network Infrastructure and technology implementation, network performance management and participate in improvement planning
- Managing access controls for all network-related services and resources.
Capacity building for non-IT staff, coaching/mentorship, and development - Identify user training needs through assessments and tailor appropriate responses
- Training material development for local offices to support the rollout of technologies.
- Lead the induction process for new staff
- Awareness-raising activities for operations and program technical staff regarding IT priorities and quality standards
Videography Operations - Conceptualize and design creative and appealing artwork in line with the VOSIEDA’s brand guidelines
- Work with the marketing team in creating graphical content for digital media
- Shoot all videos for VOSIEDA; responsible for taking location and in-house shoots
- Responsible for designing promotional materials of VOSIEDA
- Edit pictures and videos, and responsible for completing editing assignments within 8 hours
- Setting up IT equipment and maintenance of IT equipment
Website content management: - Work with the Team Leader and others to keep the website content constantly updated.
- Provide inputs to/assist in the preparation of new content, including editing and organizing page structure, blocks, and photos.
- Support the development and an effective User Engagement Strategy for online platforms.
- Support social media marketing activities and strategies; provide support in developing interaction with users and engaging them through quizzes and surveys.
- Provide inputs and assist the coordination of new web and safeguard the web structure in the process.
- Implement minor web developments through the VOSIEDA’s interface when needed.
- Solve/troubleshoot website functions as reported by the team or external users
- Develop and implement Search Engine Optimization Strategies to increase the website’s visibility.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE- At least 10 years’ experience in an NGO environment, including experience directing and implementing development programs, preferably with solid experience in more than one of VOSIEDA’s priority sectors indicated above.
- University Degree in Information Technology, Computer science and Computer Engineering
- Demonstrated information technology skills and knowledge to undertake the work described above, with a proven ability to manage office networks, hardware, software, security, design and edit websites, and support in low resource environments.
- Minimum 4 years of experience working in a similar setting for NGOs. Combination of relevant educational background and experiences may be considered.
- Excellent computer skills, especially strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Must be fluent in Speak and Write in English, and having Knowledge of Local Language is added advantage.
- High level of attention to detail.

- Fluency in written and spoken English and knowledge of French will be an asset
