Job purpose
The Mechanic is responsible for ensuring that Mary’s Meals vehicle and mechanical equipment are properly and timely maintained.
Key activities
Responsibilities and duties
- Repair vehicles and mechanical assets and inventory within 7 working days from date of report
- Examine the engine to identify defects and make recommendations as appropriate.
- Repair and or replace other engine accessories as applicable
- Remove cylinder heads, grinds, valves and scrape off carbon, and replace defective valves, cylinder heads using hand tools
- Coordinate the works required for dents and bends on frames including under carrier, ensure welding of torn parts etc
- Rectify all observed motor vehicle defects to ensure vehicle roadworthy compliance
- Disassemble subassembly units and examine the condition, movement or alignment of parts, reassemble and test the same
- Conduct routine servicing of all vehicles and mechanical assets including generators
- Liaise with the Vehicle maintenance Officer to process and procure all spare parts required to replace the damaged ones
- Account for proper use of spare parts
- Report any suspected misuse of vehicles, damage or premature wear of vehicle components
- Attend to any vehicle breakdown at the reported location/s
- Assist with picking up Monitors from the field during breakdown of their motorbikes
- Analyse all fault report forms for correct specification of spare parts request.
- Account for spare part use and time through use of job cards • Perform any other reasonable duties commensurate with the role as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
