Organizational Setting
The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments to
develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to develop
the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable
manner..
Reporting Lines
Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Liberia and the direct technical supervision of the project
coordinator, in collaboration with the Assistant FAO Representative (Programme) and the national project focal person
from the Ministry of Agriculture and other project staff the incumbent will support the project activities in rice and
vegetable production. The incumbent will undertake the following:
Tasks and Responsibilities
Contribute in the sensitization of communities and stakeholders (project sites and aspects associated with
commercial poultry, rice and vegetable production and marketing)
Participate in the identification of beneficiary groups, construction sites and contractors for poultry houses and
pack house, processing (rice) facilities
Participate in various project training (Leadership and Group Management Practices; Dimitra Listening Club;
Farmers’ Filed School);
Participate in the baseline studies, joint missions, technical monitoring of production sites and beneficiaries
Conduct training on sustainable farming techniques, good agricultural practices, technology use and
maintenance and agro-ecological farming approaches for rice and vegetable production.
Record data and analyze relevant technical, social, economic and technology related information to support
the delivery of project outputs and activities;
Provide technical input for plans and reports and edit/revise technical documents;
Participate in the development of improved work methods, tools and systems;
Participate on multi-disciplinary work teams; missions on the projects
Collaborate in the development of training tools and materials and the organization of workshops;
Participate in the organization, conduct and follow-up of meetings and consultations, the
development/production of required materials and the provision of information and assistance to partners.
Provide back to office report after each mission; monthly and progress reports
Submit end of assignment report
Perform other duties, as required.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
Advanced university degree in agriculture – crop protection, plant sciences or related field
Three to Seven years of relevant experience in vegetable crop production and protection, in developing training
tools and information materials, in the preparation, editing and revision of technical/scientific documents
Knowledge and experience in collecting and analyzing technical information and data. Good knowledge of the
country agriculture policies and main crops development strategy.
Working knowledge of English

Extend of experience of working with farmers organizations (groups, cooperative, associations)
Extend of understanding of the position terms of reference.
