Overall objective of the jobTo support the smooth implementation of the Sustainable National Societies and Resilient Communities (SNSRC) project in Liberia while ensuring that the implementation of the project is led by and own by the Liberia National Red Cross Society.
Desired starting date:October 1, 2023
Contract period1 year with possibility of extension (OR REVISE AS NEEDED)
LocationNational Headquarters (the post holder will be expected to travel out of location to the project counties (Grand Gedeh, Rivercess & Maryland) for official purposes).

 

  1. What does the job holder plan?

The project Coordinator is expected to provide support, coaching and practical recommendations to the Liberia National Red Cross Society in the implementation of the Sustainable National Societies and Resilient Communities (SNSRC) project. He / she is especially expected to provide support to the National Society in the area of Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting (PMER). He / she is further expected to coordinate support from additional SRC technical resources to the Liberia National Red Cross Society. The project Coordinator is also responsible for ensuring adherence to back – donor requirement and internal requirements as well as to ensure that the project contributes to the overall objectives of the global programme as well as the strategic priorities of the Liberia National Red Cross Society

  • Other tasks are:
  • Support the Liberia National Red Cross to identify capacity development needs at national level in the area of PMER and support the National Society to identify and implement activities to address the needs.
  • Support selected chapters of the Liberia National Red Cross Society to assess their capacity development needs and develop plans to address these needs as well as to support and monitor the implementation of the plans.
  • Support the Liberia National Red Cross Society in the recruitment process related to the project
  • Support the procurement of annual audits and ensure that they ae being completed on time
  • Undertake regular on- site monitoring of project activities through field visits, interviews and other monitoring methods and tools are relevant.
  • Undertake budget / financial monitoring as needed
  • Checking eligibility of project costs
  • Reviewing financial reports
  • Reviewing transaction lists
  • Reviewing cash requests
  • Ensure that agreed procedures for procurement and fleet are followed and that supporting documents are in accordance with SRC / LNRCS requirements
  • Report on the project as require
  • Ensuring compliance with the back donor’s requirement and SRC Internal requirements.
  • Capture learnings at country – level and contribute to cross learning between the five (5) different countries
  • Coordinate SRC’s technical support to the National Society as part of the project.
  • Participate in coordination meetings in- country and within SRC.
  • Maintain and consolidate working relationships with the Liberia National Red Cross Society within the wider RCRC Movement and with external stakeholders as needed.
  • Represent SRC in country as requested by the SRC Country Representative.
  • Respect SRC security’s regulation for Liberia
  • Carry out any other relevant task assigned by the SRC Country

The post holder shall have no oversight on any staff; except for technical volunteers that would be assigned to the project.

  • Timely submission of good quality reports and other documents
  • Good relations with Government ministries and agencies, Movement Partners (IFRC, ICRC and PNs) and other partners (international and national) throughout the country, within the region and beyond.

  • Chapter Field Officers in the various Counties of the Ccountry.

  1. Qualification and experience.
  • Relevant academic degree in Social Sciences, development studies, Business management or relevant related field
  • At least 2 years’ relevant working experience in managing development programmes.
  • Experience of project budgeting and financial reporting.
  • Experience of procurement
  • Experience in organizational development and / or capacity building
  • Experience in Community Engagement and Accountability (CEA) is an added advantage.
  • Experience of working with Protection, Gender and Inclusion (PGI), Volunteer Management and or Green Response is an added advantage
  • Experience of working within the Red Cross / Red Crescent Movement
