Job Title: Vehicle Mechanic (x2)

Location: Buchanan- Field travel support

Reporting To: System Coordinator / Transport Manager

Responsible For: nil

Job Purpose: The Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring effective and timely operation and servicing of all Concern vehicles in projects locations and other sites. He will also be responsible for making any orders for spares, lubricants and all relevant materials for vehicle management. He/ She will maintain inventory of the vehicles, service details and maintain an up to date records on vehicles performance including maintenance costs, fuel consumption, etc. to be submitted to the Transport Manager every end of month.

Responsibilities: Ensure that you are familiar with Concern’s transport policy and the Standard Operation Procedures for transport and travel; adhere at all times to these policies and practices; keeps equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles; completing preventive maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters; maintains vehicle functional condition by using job

cards on detailing driver’s complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components; repairing body damage; verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems; complies with state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards; maintains up to date vehicle records by recording service and repairs and ensuring that all job cards are properly filled, signed and filed; keeps workshop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; make request for repairs; contain costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options; keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying items against what was ordered; updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications; accomplishes maintenance and organization mission by completing related results as needed; in the event of any damage to or accident involving the assigned vehicle, promptly complete an Accident Report Sheet; promptly record any mechanical faults in the assigned vehicle’s Mechanical Fault Log and update regularly; prior

to scheduled service, provide a written report to the Systems Coordinator or Transport Manager detailing any mechanical faults or problems with the vehicle; prepare and circulate service schedule for all vehicles; assist in preparing quarterly/annual procurement plans for vehicle spare parts; fill in for driver when required; in addition to the above you may also be asked to carry out other duties by your immediate line manager or his/her manager.

Experience & Qualification:

Minimum of Diploma or certificate equivalent in related field

At least 3 year of practical experience in repairing and maintaining vehicles specifically Toyota Land Cruisers for NGO/INGO, Good understanding of motorbike (Yamaha AG 100, DT 125, Honda XL125, SR125) and generator maintenance/repairs is added advantage Proficiency with hand tools and other equipment.

Excellent active listening, problem solving, and communication skills.

Self-motivated, independent, and reliable with a strong work ethic.

Be willing to work during extra hours; Attention to details.

This role will suit a “people” person with good communication skills who is able to interact with all levels of staff.
