  1. MANAGER, FINANCE OPERATIONS

Job Summary

· Manager, Financial Operations plays a pivotal role in leading and overseeing four sub-functions within Financial Operations, Unit, within the Finance Department. They include Treasury and Cash Management, Financial Operations, General Ledger and Taxation for the Opco. The Manager, Financial Operations reports into the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and is supported by Accountants and Supervisors responsible for the above mentioned four sub-functions.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Operations

· Ensure establishment of robust financial accounting systems so as to provide timely, accurate and consistent inputs for management reporting

· Responsible for ensuring preparation and maintenance of financial and accounting policies & procedures for the Opco

· Responsible for supervising the maintenance of the books of accounts as per the standard accounting practices

· Oversee Opco site support functions. Ensure operational work related to fund mobilisation, accounting, cash handling & disbursements, bookkeeping and timely payment to vendors are as per defined service levels

· Work closely with the site support team to reconcile the bills raised by the contractors / vendors / suppliers and ensure timely payments as per the contractual conditions

· Ensure minimal lead times for rendering support to the internal customers and ensure minimal process / operational breakdowns

· Responsible for intercompany relations and transactions relating to financial matters like fund transfer, etc.

Treasury & Cash Management

· Direct and ensure effective cashflow management in alignment with MTN guidelines, suggest corrective actions in case of process deviations and escalate issues in a timely manner

· Ensure management of cash and bank funds receipts and its approval

· Responsible for approving and sanctioning the bank related vouchers, reconciliation statements etc, as applicable

· Responsible for providing support to the treasury activities of the organization to ensure gain of returns on the corporate level investments

 

Taxation

§ Oversee tax function and ensure adherence to all related compliance requirements per local laws

§ Drive and guide the tax planning of direct and indirect taxation that will assist in commercial decision-making

§ Ensure compliance with respect to statutory requirements as applicable

§ Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time

 

Supervisory /Managerial/ Leadership Complexity:

§ Coach and mentor direct reports to ensure staff motivation is high

§ Ensure skill transfer for staff development, motivation and business continuity

§ Ensure the team is led, motivated and rewarded to achieve high performance areas

§ Guide and direct suppliers and third parties in achieving Opco objectives

§ Identify staff training and development needs and implement necessary actions

§ Manage team (including recruitment, on-boarding, attrition)

§ Set goals and objectives for direct reports, monitor progress and maintain motivation

§ Set up appropriate structure to meet departmental management objectives

§ Provide an advisory function on governance and best practices in client experience

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce/Finance or related field

· Professional Qualification/Certificate from a recognized Accounting body (CA, ACCA, CPA, CFA)

· MBA in Banking & Finance, or related field is an added advantage;

 

Experience

· Minimum of seven (7) years’ relevant working experience with five (5) years in similar role or at Manager level in a multinational corporation, Telco or leading organization

· Experience in Treasury management

· Experience in Tax management

· Experience in Financial Operations & Reporting

· Proven track record of achievements in similar role

· Minimum of eleven years (11) years’ demonstrated experience at Finance Coordinator level, but with experience in managing/supervising more than 5 people.

· Worked across diverse cultures and geographies advantageous
