ABOUT US

Action Against Hunger is an international network (Paris, New York, London, Toronto, Madrid and New Delhi) committed to ending world hunger.

Action Against Hunger (AAH) has been working in Liberia since 1990 with the purpose of responding to the needs of the most vulnerable people, at first during the emergencies and then in a more development setting, until the 2014 Ebola outbreak and the emergency it generated in the country. AAH interventions in Liberia aim at improving the nutrition security of the population, with particular focus on children under-five and pregnant and lactating women. AAH aims at doing so by implementing multi-sectorial programs, which encompass direct nutrition intervention and prevention activities to address the underlining causes of undernutrition, i.e. poor health, food insecurity, poor care practices, and poor access to water and sanitation. AAH also has an integrated advocacy strategy in the mission that cuts across all the sectors.

Action Against Hunger is recruiting a Wash Deputy Program Manager to support public health promotion activities through planning, coordination, implementation and monitoring of AFD project within Government health facilities and communities in Montserrado, Margibi, and Nimba Counties; coordination and representation of Action Against Hunger at county level.

The position is based in Montserrado with support to Margibi and Nimba Counties

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

– Provide technical and supportive supervisions to WASH Officers and local partner CHI working in partnership with the County Health Teams and county WASH Coordinators for the provision of WASH services in targeted health facilities and communities to ensure effective implementation of the project.

– Capacity Building and Training of Partners to support behaviuour change programs

– To collect and analyze information on services provided in the counties of implementation and produce timely and comprehensive reports in closed coordination with the WASH Officers

– Coordination between Monrovia base and county of implementation

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

– Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, social sciences, community development, Environmental related discipline or related sciences with at least 3 years’ experience working in water, sanitation, and hygiene programs at health facilities or in communities

– At least 2 years’ experience in, managing teams and programs

 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

– Good understanding of Liberia WASH sector to provide improve WASH services at health care facilities and host communities

– At least 3 years of SBCC-specific experience in designing, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of approaches and materials as well as related training;

– A good understanding of Behaviour change and community engagement

– Good knowledge of IPC best practices and community level hygiene promotion and sanitation practices

– Experience in facilitation of trainings and capacity building, skills in Training of Trainers (ToT)

– Good analytical and report writing capacity

– Knowledge of local languages in project areas is an asset

– Flexibility for field work as the job requires overnight stay and travel to ‘hard to reach’ rural communities in the counties

 

Remuneration package

o Starting date: As soon as possible

o Duration of contract: 10 months

o Monthly basic salary: 1050 USD

o Monthly transport allowance:75 USD

o Monthly education allowance: 90 USD

o Medical insurance
